Eric Scott of Jet Pack International takes flight at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos, California on September 7, 2008. JPI founder Troy Widgery, who saw business success with his Go Fast energy drink, reinvested part of his fortune to design a new, lighter, more agile jet pack based on military designs. His premier model, the soon-to-be-released T-73, will carry a 180-pound man 250 feet high and 11 miles downrange at a top speed of 83 mph, running for about nine minutes on jet-A fuel. The T-73 will be commercially available, priced, including training, at $200,000. (Photo: Scott Highton) |
